People
Richard Pipe -CEO and Founder
Richard shares his time between New Zealand and India and provides the strategic direction and product design. His early background was in telecommunications and then in various technical sales and marketing roles before moving to India in 1993. He started Versaware India in 1999. Versaware India expanded to 1,500 people by 2001 and at the time was the largest privately held off-shore content production company in India.
Versaware Inc. (US) folded in 2001 as part of the dot-com meltdown, and the India operation was the high-value survivor. Richard navigated Versaware India through a series of corporate and shareholder changes and in 2002 it emerged as Digital Publishing Solutions and subsequently DX Techologies.
During this period technology was developed for every type of content and all the e-book formats that have ever been invented. The high-point of this time was the digitization of 15,000 Taylor and Francis books into seven different formats. This included accompanying distribution, eCommerce and online subscription technologies.
After a series of acquistions and share-holder take-overs Richard left the DPS group in 2004 to start Infogrid Pacific. It was an opportunity to rework the content XML production, processing, management and delivery tools with emerging technologies and standards. This resulted in the design of IGP:FoundationXHTML - an XML approach which makes content ready for the next 10 years.
Richard has been responsible for the digitization of over 25,000 books and millions of pages of other digital content, plus the design of the tools and processes which create those documents. The focus is now on better ways of exploiting XML content authoring and production for all types of high value content.
Deepak Chandran - CTO
Deepak has been the driver of software development for over a decade and has been associated with software development for processing unstructured content for that period.
Previously Deepak led the development teams for Versaware technology in C and Java, DPS technology in VB, C++ and Java, and most recently IGP software in Python/Django and Java. His depth of knowledge in content processing is unmatched.
Deepak is a strong developer with equally strong team leadership and client management skills. He multi-task on multiple projects but remains a hands-on developer. He is the lead developer of IGP:FLIP and associated technologies while having executive responsibility for the developement of all other products.
Vikrant Kadam - Production Manager
Vikrant leads our content production facilities in Pune and Kolaphur in India. He is responsible for the production and deliver of client content.
Vikrant is a hands-on, experienced content expert having handled content in multiple international languages and all complexities from simple novels to STM text books. His passion is always finding the 11th ingredient that makes the content whole greater than the sum of its parts. His team of 135 content editors are ready for any challenge.
He has been pushing the e-book customization boundaries, especially with e-pub to lift the game for electronic content. The production system uses IGP:ECMS Solutions for content management and IGP:FLIP for multi-format XML tagging.
When you purchase any IGP production service you will be in constant communication with Vikrant, his project managers and his production team.
