IGP:Digital Publisher Working Samples
About the samples
The samples show just some of the digital content production gamut available with IGP:Digital Publisher. The emphasis is on the time and cost savings realized by working using simultaneous design - a feature built into the IGP:Digital Publisher and the IGP:Document Designer core functionality.
Each sample contains a section on simultaneous design notes and is further supported by additional information from the Infogrid Pacific ePub blog.
Siddhartha - Basic
This is a simultaneous design demonstration for a basic novel. This book has been selected because of the nested part structure and classic story that makes it ideal for the applied Van de Graff page layout. The front matter contains notes on the design decisions.
The pdf and ePub are generated from the same IGP:Document Designer Profile. PDF images are low resolution. The large print editions have significant changes to the typography, notably the text is ragged-right and not hyphenated. The ePub large print version is provided to show the inheritance of the ePub design from the print design created using IGP:Document Designer.

Siddhartha - Collectors Edition
This book is the previous one, with additional content remixed in using the IGP:Digital Publisher remix features. A new Design Profile has also been applied.
The text was enhanced and additional information front and back matter pages have been included and the design made more "contemporary" using a different design profile.
The primary purpose of this sample is to demonstrate if you content is stored digitally you can reuse and value add to it easily at any time. You can incrementally value add to your content. For example you may have released the first book two years ago. For various marketing reasons you decide to re-release the product with some commissioned content.

This Dynamic Earth
This is a textbook style simultaneous design sample. This pushes the concepts of simultaneous design very hard with a complex page layout. Just some of the issues addressed are the separation of structure layout from styling, auto reflowed ePub interior, and images prepared for a dual print and digital book future.
The print PDFis a 2/3 text book column design with a lot of images and noteboxes. The same content is included in the ePub. The book contains extensive simultaneous design notes and is designed as a tutorial first. It's also a very interesting read, both in print and ePub.

History of the World
This massive work is 277 sections/chapters and is used to illustrate the power of well produced digital content.
Beside the very large full-book editions there are vertical and horizontal remix versions addressing timelines and regions. The remixes were created using the standard features of IGP:Digital Publisher, and each remixed version has a different design applied using IGP:Document Designer. IGP:Digital Publisher delivers value added content strategies in less time than it takes to think about it using other solutons.
