We are very excited to announce the release of AZARDI 18 today. With this update ePub2/3 books can now be delivered securely to all major Desktops, Android, iPad and Browsers. The secure streaming model reinvents and replaces DRM.
The general AZARDI Desktop version is now identical in operation to the AZARDI Android App and AZARDI IOS WebApp versions.
If you don't have AZARDI for your Windows, Mac or Linux desktop...
Go to the AZARDI Information and Download Site
If you have AZARDI 17 installed when you next open AZARDI it will update to AZARDI 18.
This update to AZARDI 18 Desktop introduces a new feature Publisher Shelves.
These are publisher account specific compartments on all AZARDI Readers that allow any publisher bookstore or ePub content delivery system using AZARDI:Content Fulfilment (ACF) to deliver their books under priveleged user account control to the users desktop AZARDI reader.
The Publisher's bookstore delivered books are maintained in their named shelf in the Reader. AZARDI 18 can support any number of Publisher shelves to allow small publishers to directly sell their books using a simple, affordable SaaS model.
The complete AZARDI solution also supports digital content subscription and digital content lending business strategies.
Any user can create an account on any number of ACF Publisher Bookstores or Courseware sites using the AZARDI API, and each Publisher Bookstore is allocated its own custom Publisher Shelf in AZARDI Desktop.
The same book can also be delivered Online and to Android and IOS mobile devices.
This gives the publisher the ability to enforce the book reading engagement agreement in terms with the offer the publisher made and was agreed to by the consumer.
AZARDI Rights Agreements are not the one-sided DRM systems like Apple, Adobe and Amazon DRM inflict. It ensures the user cannot loose the book rights they have purchased (by enforced book removal), creates a framework of mutual value respect between consumer and publisher and protects the content from flagrant "piracy" (a synonym for theft).
The advantage of the Infogrid Pacific AZARDI Rights Agreement model is the elimination of punitive costs for publishers. We focus on the technology business and let you focus on the business of getting your content to your readers with technology taxes.
There are two new buttons on the main interface.
New Publisher Shelf. If you have purchased from a publisher selling their content using AZARDI:Content Fulfilment the free reader lets you create and connect to your purchases by registering your account in AZARDI.
Update Publisher Shelf. If you have purchased more books from a publisher you can refresh your AZARDI library shelf at any time.
You can register any number of Publisher Shelves in AZARDI. You only have to provide the publisher bookstore site URL and your private account details.
When your Publisher Shelf has been registered it will syncronize with your bookstore accounts and show you your purchased or subscription books.
Books that can be downloaded are clearly indicated with the DOWNLOAD notice on the cover. When a book has been downloaded and installed get reading.
If the full AZARDI:Content Fulfilment license is purchased the publisher can have all the AZARDI readers white labelled and customized so you can complete your publisher brand building.
For example the AZARDI Readers are being used by the Oxford Digital Library to deliver hundreds of interactive and rich media learning books to tens of thousands of students around the world. It is being used by Phoenix Books in the Philippines to deliver K-12 semester specific content to students in dozens of schools. No cluttering up students with large and expensive files. It's learning content on the go.
AZARDI:Content Fulfilment is also suitable for library business models where the subscription business changed to lending strategies. Combined with IGP:Distribution Manager publishers can control the pricing and terms of books bulk uploaded to any digital library directly.
AZARDI:Content Fulfilment is proven in operation. It has been in testing, development and constant improvement for two years.
AZARDI goes beyond ePub3 and is a complete XHTML5 reader with advanced features not seen in any other reading system.
AZARDI makes it possible for publishers of every size to build their brand and deliver their content in a trusted manner free from punitive fees.
The AZARDI:Content Fulfilment demonstration site will be available shortly to allow you to test the system out for yourself.
